Attracting and retaining international students in an increasingly competitive international market

The UK retains a substantial reputation for attracting and retaining international students from across the globe.

However, recent policy changes to international student visa regulations in the UK, and emerging challenges from key competitors teaching in English - particularly in the United States, Australia and Europe - mean that the environment for international student recruitment in the UK is facing a tough period for growing student numbers.

This national broadcast conference brought together policy and practice presentations from national policy makers and key stakeholders to consider the impact of recent policy changes, particularly in relation to international student visa regulations; shared best practice on the successful recruitment and retention of international students; examined developing internationalisation strategies in universities and colleges and looked at how to maintain and exceed international students’ expectations.
