Aaron Porter is a Director for the National Centre for Universities & Business (NCUB) and a higher education consultant working with a range of higher education institutions and bodies and is also an associate for the Leadership Foundation, the Higher Education Academy and an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Winchester. He is currently engaged in a number of research projects including the longitudinal evaluation of the National Scholarship Programme for the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) with CFE Research.

He was previously President of the National Union of Students during the high profile tuition fee debate in 2010-11 and dealt extensively with government across the 4 UK nations. He was the first President of NUS to be invited to serve as a board member for the HEFCE and has also served on the boards of the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS), the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA). He graduated with a BA English from the University of Leicester, and during his time as a student was editor of the student newspaper, ‘The Ripple’. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts.

In July 2014, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Leicester in recognition of his contribution to higher education and the student experience.
