Dr Richard Blackburn

Dr Richard Blackburn obtained his BSc in Zoology and a Master’s degree in Reproductive Physiology at the University of Wales, followed by a PhD in Pathology at the University of Sheffield. He started lecturing in biosciences at the University of London in 1977. He joined the University of Greenwich in 1987, where he taught a range of subjects including physiology, toxicology, clinical chemistry, epidemiology, biomedical science and other health-related subjects.

He was Head of Department in the School of Science for 14 years, leading the development of numerous degrees and liaising with several Partner Colleges. This was followed by appointment as the School’s Director of Learning and Quality, where his role includes enhancing students’ experience, progression and achievement, programme development, electronic learning and the strategic development of the School of Science provision at the University.
