Resources wasted on NHS “regurgitation” - Lynn Young
Speaking at an event entitled ’What the heck is going on in the NHS?’, Lynn Young, Primary Healthcare Adviser for the RCN had a blunt message to politicians who have undertaken expensive re-organisations of the health service. Describing the process as “regurgitation”, she said that billions of pounds had “gone down the toilet” while those responsible had not “taken one look at the people who deliver the services”. She did, however, describe herself as an optimist and, in discussing the Government’s latest White Paper ‘Liberating the NHS’ she said there was some “reason for hope”.
The answer to the NHS’s problem is to improve the nation’s health, continued Young. “We don’t really know how to do it and we’ve done it very badly over the years but this is where we need to concentrate our action”, she said.
