Children in the UK have been the focus of many reports in the media. Concerns for their physical and emotional wellbeing, in their homes, in care , on the internet and at schools have been discussed as well as fears of an increase in child poverty in light of the current financial climate. Fears that children might be at risk of overprotection have also been raised. This conference brought together representatives from local and central government, LCSBs, police, education and child protection organisations to offer an opportunity to hear from experts in the field and discuss how to protect and safeguard children while providing a safe and normal childhood.
