Gail Findlay

Gail Findlay is Co-ordinator of the London Health Commission, which is the strategic partnership for health in London. The Commission has all the major players in health and social determinants of health in London, represented at the highest level, at the table and works to reduce health inequities and improve the health of all Londoners.

Gail moved to her current pan London role from Islington Primary Care Trust, where she was Assistant Director of Public Health and Acting Head of Public Health in 2003. Gail also worked as Regional Associate Director for London for the Health Development Agency and then for National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence from 2002 to 2006. She was Director of Camden and Islington Health Action Zone from 2000 to 2002 and Director of Bedfordshire Health Promotion Agency from 1994 to 1999. Gail is a registered Public Health Specialist, Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health, Fellow of the University of East London and a qualified teacher. Gail has a long career in public health, and over the course of her career has worked in education and training, research, community development and health promotion and has a special interest in health inequalities, social determinants of health, community participation and development and partnerships for health.
