Anne Williams

Anne Williams, Strategic Director of Community, Health and Social Care Directorate, Salford City Council.

Anne has over 30 years of experience in social care working in the NHS, Voluntary Sector and Local Authorities. From 1999-2005 she was Director of Community and Social Services in Salford managing Neighbourhood Services and Children and Adults Social Care.

Since September 2005, as Strategic Director, she manages Neighbourhood Services, Adult Social Care, and Culture and Leisure Services.

Anne was Chair of the North West branch of the Association of Directors of Social Services (ADSS) for three years until 2005.

In 2004 she also became Co-Chair of the Resources Committee of ADSS. In that role Anne was responsible for providing comment and evidence on Government Spending Plans in Social Care and contributed to an annual joint LGA, ADSS and Treasurers’ Societies budget survey on Local Authority spending on social care. She has been extensively involved in work to support the association’s contribution to the Comprehensive Spending Review 2007-10.

As Vice President Elect Anne chaired the steering group to establish the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS). She became Vice President of ADSS from October 2006 and is the first President of ADASS from its launch on 26 March 2007.
