Michael Davis
Michael Davis is the Chief Executive of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES). UKCES is a government funded, industry-led organisation providing strategic leadership on skills and employment issues across the UK. He previously held the position of Director of Strategy and Performance.
Before UKCES Michael was Managing Director of CFE. Based in the East Midlands, Michael led CFE for just under 10 years from a start up to becoming a national specialist in policy and programme management for skills, enterprise and economic development.
In addition, whilst in the East Midlands, Michael was a non-exec director then investor and Chairman of Lastolite Ltd which is a leading manufacturer of backgrounds and lighting control systems for the photo and video industry. Lastolite was sold in 2011 to Manfrotto. Michael was also Governor and then Chairman of Leicester College which is one of the largest FE colleges in England.
Prior to joining CFE Michael's first years after university were spent working in a variety of consultancy and management roles from supporting a new business start-up, accountancy, public policy and business development.
Michael graduated from Lancaster University with a degree in Economics in 1994.
