Professor Sir Pete Downes has been principal and vice-chancellor of the University of Dundee since 2009. He is one of the UK’s leading biochemists and led the development of biosciences at Dundee, which is now ranked first in the UK for research in the field (2014 REF). He is also convener of Universities Scotland.
