Hazar El-Chamaa

Hazar joined Penningtons’ immigration team upon qualification in 2006 and has eight years immigration experience in total. She specialises in all aspects of immigration and nationality law. Her current work focuses on advising corporate clients, many of which are large multinational organisations, and high net worth individuals looking to invest in the UK.

She plays a pivotal role in dealing with university and private sector clients, advising on all aspects of compliance, restructuring and business strategies. She also has significant experience of working on judicial review cases, challenging the UKBA’s decisions to suspend and/or revoke Tier 4 licences, reduce an education establishment’s CAS allocation or deny HTS status. Hazar worked on English UK's successful High Court judicial review which allowed Education providers to continue offering English language courses at A2 level and she played a key role in London Metropolitan University’s successful bid to apply for a judicial review of the ban on its right to recruit international students.

The breadth of her knowledge relating to both business and personal immigration applications is extensive. Her experience includes advising on complex Tier 1 investor and entrepreneur applications as well as other applications under the various categories of the points based system, EU law, freedom of movement, claims to British citizenship, naturalisation and registration applications. Hazar is a frequent speaker on immigration law and gives seminars/training to sponsors both in the corporate and education sector on compliance with obligations under their sponsor licence and to HR professionals on prevention of illegal working. Hazar has been recommended by the Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession which lists her as an associate to watch.
