Speaker Biography

Lindy Elliott

Lindy graduated in Newcastle Upon Tyne as a library professional and has worked in local authority library services around the country. These have included Gloucestershire; North Tyneside; Harrow; Hampshire and Portsmouth.

Since coming to Portsmouth in 1996, Lindy has worked in adult and children’s services, taking on the role as City Children’s Librarian; Lifelong Learning Manager and, from 2009, Library Services Manager. With Portsmouth colleagues she has developed and delivered the Portsmouth Book Award collaborations with the Schools Library Service and local schools; the annual BookFest literary festival and developed a range of services for vision-impaired library users including an advice line funded via health services.

In July 2012 Lindy’s team will deliver the first universal library card scheme in the UK for all Portsmouth school children from four-16 years.
