Peter Tinson is the UCISA Executive Secretary, a post he has held since May 2005. UCISA is the professional body for IT staff in higher and further education. As Executive Secretary, Peter is regularly invited to join advisory boards and steering groups to give the sector viewpoint on particular issues. He was a member of the HEFCE Shared Services Advisory Group and is currently a member of the Steering Group of JISC’s Flexible Service Delivery Programme which is looking to get institutions into the position where they can ‘exploit new and improved business models for the delivery of their IT services’.

UCISA itself is something of a shared service, commissioning work where required on behalf of the whole HE sector. Examples include resources on implementing ITIL and the Information Security Toolkit.
