John Lowther is the Director of Strategy for Tees Valley Unlimited. A geographer and town planner by training, John has been involved in planning, housing, transport and economic development for the last 30 years in London, Scunthorpe and the Tees Valley.

Tees Valley Unlimited is a public/private sector partnership responsible for improving the economic performance of the Tees Valley through encouraging the strategic economic development and regeneration of the Tees Valley and ensuring that economic development, strategic housing and transport proposals are properly integrated to improve economic performance.

John led the preparation of the Tees Valley City Region Business Case in 2006 and secured the Multi Area Agreement for the Tees Valley which brings together the regeneration, housing and transport capital funding streams into a single Tees Valley capital programme to implement the city region business case.

Finally John has prepared the Tees Valley Local Enterprise Partnership proposal setting out the ambitions and plans of Tees Valley Unlimited to improve the economic performance of the Tees Valley.
