Pip O'Byrne
Chair, 4Children.
Pip O’Byrne is Chair of the national children and families charity 4Children. The organisation has played a crucial role in shaping and delivering children and family policy including Children’s Centres. As the DfE early years strategic partner, 4Children is a member of the DfE/Dept Health co-production group advising on the Foundation Years policy statements and is working closely with the Department to build the capacity and coherence of the sector.
Pip has been Chair of 4Children for over twenty years and over that time has helped to lead and shape the organisation into an influential shaper of children and family policy. Pip has an extensive background in children and family support policy, with significant expertise in developing and delivering a successful range of community based prevention and early intervention services, including children’s centres and family support projects.
Pip originally trained as a public health professional and has operated in a range of policy and strategic management posts across local government and charitable sector. Following seven years as an Assistant Director of Community Services in Camden she has been working as a strategic advisor and researcher. Pip is a regular speaker and Chair of seminars and conferences and has sat on a number of national commissions. She is presently a member of the national Health Visiting Taskforce, set up to help promote and support the expansion and improvements in health visiting to deliver better earlier support for children and families.
