Geoff Hayward

Geoff Hayward is Director of Research, Associate Director of SKOPE and Reader in Education at the Department of Education, University of Oxford. He is a visiting professor in the Department of Sociology and Economics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Economics and Business Studies at the University of Paderborn.

Geoff has wide experience in leading and managing large research projects including a systems analysis of VET provision for the LSDA, and the Nuffield 14-19 Review undertaking, in particular, analysis of systems performance and management. He helped devise the evaluation strategy for the new Diploma qualifications and provided advice to the then DfES on the 14-19 reform strategy. Geoff has worked for the Bundes Institut für Berufsbildung advising on qualification frameworks, and recently provided a presentation to a BiBB conference on using administrative data sets to benchmark the performance of VET systems. He is regularly invited to present at international conferences on VET system performance. He has worked as a consultant/adviser for the NAO, UCAS, DCSF, DBIS and the LSN and is a governor of Oxford and Cherwell Valley College.
