Sarah Dawes

Head of Leisure and Culture, Newark and Sherwood District Council

Sarah has worked in the cultural sector for over twenty years and has been Head of Leisure and Culture at Newark & Sherwood District Council since 2004 where she also the corporate lead for Equalities. She has experience in major regeneration projects, health initiatives and partnerships and a background in community arts, education and exhibition.
Sarah has been seconded to the East Midlands Cultural Improvement Programme (CIPEM) since 2007 where she has been responsible for developing the use of performance management frameworks to underpin and reposition the role of culture within wider partnerships addressing health, education, community safety, regeneration and environmental issues. She is currently leading region wide use of the Single Improvement Tool, with a particular focus upon efficiencies.
