Katherine Kerswell was at Northamptonshire County Council before joining Kent. She is a former Chief Executive of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and Redditch Borough Council. Her career has included working for the London Borough of Merton and Leicester City Council. During her 22 years in Local Government, Katherine has specialised in customer focus, quality programmes and leading transformational change.

She holds a Joint B.A. Honours Degree from Leicester University; an M.Sc. in Industrial Relations from Strathclyde University and an M.B.A. from De Montfort University. She is currently a non executive Director of the Department of Children, Schools and Families and SOLACE Enterprises. She is the President of SOLACE - the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives and Senior Managers. She is also the President of the Northamptonshire County Association of Local Councils
