Dr Hamdullahpur was appointed president and vice-chancellor of the University of Waterloo in 2011. He is also chair of the U15 group of Canada's research-intensive universities and serves as vice-chair of the Waterloo Global Science Initiative. He is the author of hundreds of scientific and academic publications and was named a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering in 2014.
