Professor Mbithi took up his current role in January 2015, having previously served as deputy vice-chancellor for administration and finance. He is a professor of veterinary surgery at the University of Nairobi and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. He specialises in orthopaedic surgery, wounding and traumatology.
