Professor Sadler was previously dean of the Faculty of Social and Environmental Sciences at the University of Liverpool, helping to establish Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou, China. He was then vice-president for academic affairs at XJTLU from 2010, and joined Queen Mary as professor of economic geography and vice-principal (international) in 2014.
