Professor Morag Shiach is Vice-Principal (Teaching and Learning), at Queen Mary, University of London, where she is also a Professor of Cultural History in the School of English and Drama. As Vice-Principal she has responsibility for the development and implementation of the College’s Learning and Teaching Strategy. She also sits on various national policy groups on strategic planning and on the student experience.

Professor Shiach was educated at the University of Glasgow, McGill University, Montreal, and the University of Cambridge. Before becoming Vice-Principal she was Head of the School of English and Drama at Queen Mary. Her research interests are in the cultural history of the early-twentieth century, and her major publications include: Modernism, Labour and Selfhood in British Literature and Culture, 1890-1930; Hélène Cixous: A Politics of Writing; Discourse on Popular Culture; (ed) Cambridge Companion to the Modernist Novel; (ed.) Feminism and Cultural Studies; and (ed) Virginia Woolf, A Room of One’s Own and Three Guineas.
