Professor Cloete is the founding director of the University of Stellenbosch Water Institute. His awards include the Havenga prize for biology from the South African Academy for Science and Art, and the Academy of Science of South Africa’s Gold Medal. He also serves on the board of the Cancer Association of South Africa.
