Speaker Biography

David Howe

David has spent over 30 years in schools and colleges successively as a teacher, lecturer, adviser, project leader on technical and vocational initiatives, inspector, senior manager and FE College Principal. His chief interests in education have been on innovative teaching, learning and assessment particularly in making the educational experience broader than the formal achievement of qualifications and curricula, so that learners are prepared and confident for their future at work and in the community. As a senior manager he has led two significant projects to bring higher education to a locality with poor access to HE opportunities through strategic partnerships between HE and FE.

His current role involves working with colleges across the UK to promote enterprise activity, embed entrepreneurship into education at all levels, and bring together key educators with government and other bodies to influence policy and practice related to teaching relevant skills to and supporting budding entrepreneurs.
