Dr Lucy Platt
Lucy Platt is a Lecturer in Public Health Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. She applies qualitative and epidemiological research methods to assess sexual and drug-related risk among people who inject drugs (PWID) and sex workers and to measure mechanisms through which social policies interact with individual behaviour and vulnerability to blood-borne viruses and other bacterial sexually transmitted infections.
She has led mixed-method studies to examine the nature and determinants of sexually transmitted infections among migrant sex workers from Eastern Europe in London and the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of needle/syringe programmes on Hepatitis C incidence among PWID.
