Dr John Gilbert

Dr John Gilbert
Dr John Gilbert is founding Principal & Professor Emeritus, College of Health Disciplines, University of British Columbia where he was also founding Director of the School of Audiology and Speech Sciences, and Director of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences.

He currently serves on British Columbia’s Patient Care Quality Review Board. He is a Global Consultant to the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He is Senior Scholar, WHO Collaborating Centre on Health Workforce Planning and Research, Dalhousie University; Visiting Professor at the National University of Malaysia; Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Graduate Studies, Dalhousie University, and Adjunct Professor, the University of Pittsburgh. He was Co-Chair of the WHO Study Group on Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice. His is International Advisor to Hospitals Without Boundaries.

John was elected a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences in 2009 and was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada, (Canada’s highest civilian award) in July 2011. He was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in April 2012, and in October 2013 received the Outstanding Lifetime Contribution to International Allied Health Development Award from the International Chief Health Professions Officers Organization.
