Simon Hughes
Simon spent the first ten years of his career in the private sector working in IT, sales and recruitment before changing career and moving into social care.
Simon has across the country with adults with physical disabilities, long-term illness, HIV, specialising in working with clients who were Deaf.
Following a year’s voluntary work in Birmingham with people who were street homeless and asylum seekers, Simon moved to Brighton to work with people who are street homeless, managing a Nightshelter.
Simon moved to BHT in 2009 where he is the Operational Manager for First Base Day Centre, the biggest resource centre for people who are street homeless in the city. First Base provides healthcare, work, learning, and accommodation services in partnership with several partners. First Base also runs two successful Social Enterprise businesses.
