Phil Evans

Phil Evans is responsible for all of the services that the Met Office provides within the public sector. This includes predictions on climate change; advice on the spreading of airborne animal diseases and 'free at the point of use' services we provide to emergency responders and the general public.

He has worked for the Met Office since 1988. Before joining the Executive he initially worked in research and development on ground-based remote sensing systems, in particular radar systems for meteorological applications. Later he led the development of a satellite calibration and testing facility under a joint programme with NASA.

Phil has since held a number of roles, including responsibility for Strategy and Planning, Business Development, Commercial and International relations and, most recently, Chief Advisor to Government, responsible for liaison with Parliament and the devolved administrations, and management of key Government relations.
