Amanda Long

 Amanda  Long
Amanda Long is Executive Officer - Marketing, Membership and Media with the East of England Co-Operative Society. Working as part of the Leadership Team responsible for the successful management of the Society portfolio including 270 retail outlets across 70 towns and villages in Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. Previous to this, Amanda was Chief Executive of the cutting edge sustainable business and behaviour change consultancy Corporate Culture. She was shortlisted for the ‘Public Service’ category at the 2011 First Women Awards, hosted by the CBI and Real Business magazine recognising trailblazing women.

Transformational sustainable business and strategic marketing programmes have been core to Long's career - previously developing Anglian Water’s ground-breaking “Love Every Drop” programme. Her career in sustainable business began 16 years ago working with Unilever, and its large subsidiary Birds Eye Wall’s, developing the international sustainable marine fisheries programme – the Marine Stewardship Council initiative – in partnership with WWF. This was then followed with the development of Birds Eye Wall’s sustainable agriculture programme.

As Director of the UK and Ireland National Bureau for the Dutch Hardy Nursery Stock Industry, Amanda co-led on EU-funded national generic campaigns and co-developed the Green City initiative.

She also served on the Local Procurement Taskforce, chaired by Zac Goldsmith MP, to drive sustainability through public sector procurement. She has been a non-exec board member of an Acute NHS Trust of 3 hospitals, was a county councillor for a large rural ward in Cumbria and chaired the Environment and Economic Regeneration Overview Panel. Amanda sits on a number of advisory boards incl: InContext, a Europe-wide behavioural change investigation and BiTCs 2050 Vision Project (2012-2011). She is also Chair of the Behavioural Change Working Group for the University of Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership.
