Mike Gibson has managed Bolsover District Council’s Apprenticeship Programme since 2009. He now coordinates four apprenticeship strands within the programme offering opportunities across three districts. He has a passion for positive psychology, NLP and life long learning. Mike left school with few qualifications and trained to be a landscape contractor under the Youth Training Scheme. He ran his own horticultural business for a few years. Later he broke out of his comfort zone and changed direction. Gaining HND and degree in business he worked for the LV, Financial Services Research VW and a publisher.

He has lectured in business, at Askham Bryan College, and managed three employer training pilot contracts for West Nottinghamshire College’. Mike volunteers with DofE and is always motivated by a challenge in his work and interests that include mountaineering or competing in ultra endurance and adventure races around the world.
