As Medical Director of the Royal Free Dr Tookman has led three successful transformational change management programmes (Infection control/Public Health/wellbeing and organisational culture). Currently Divisional Director/Medical Director for specialist services which includes management of Oncology, Haematology, Infection and Inflammation services of the trust. Corporately responsible for Cancer and Public Health.

As the Medical Director of the Marie Curie Hospice Hampstead (and Consultant in Palliative Medicine, Royal Free Hospital Trust) Dr Tookman leads a 32 bedded inpatient unit and a Day Therapy Unit which has a National profile in managing cancer survivors

Dr Tookman is Clinical Lead for the Marie Curie Palliative Care Clinical Research Unit. This Unit is based in the Academic Department of Psychiatry of University College London. It has a broad research portfolio in palliative and supportive care in both the cancer and non cancer population.
