David Chesterton is a Director of Secure Foundation and Chairs its Young Offenders Academy Advisory Group; he is also a Director of the Australian Foyer Foundation.
In January 2011 he launched the latest of three groundbreaking reports arguing the case for a step change to youth custody. David created the UK’s largest provider of Foyers; accommodating 600 homeless and vulnerable young people in the East End of London. He is a recognised international authority on housing, learning and support for homeless and vulnerable young people, including substantial involvement in shaping public policy and programmes in Australia. He helped launch Foyers in the Netherlands and is currently playing a leading role with national organisations in France, Germany, Netherlands and UK. David is the pioneer largely responsible for the establishment of active use of the enclosed docks of London’s Docklands. David is a magistrate and sits as a youth court chairman in inner London. He is a Fellow of the RSA.
