Prior to taking up his current role as Director for Fire, Resilience and Emergencies in the Department for Communities and Local Government
(DCLG), Neil was Director for Communities and Neighbourhoods.
Neil has enjoyed a varied career in the Civil Service, working in five different
Government Departments, including DCLG’s predecessors as well as the Home Office, Cabinet Office and Department for Children, Schools and Families. His recent postings have been focused on communities -
developing and implementing policies to empower citizens, support voluntary and community sector organisations, improve race equality and community cohesion, and tackle extremism, anti-social behaviour, crime and homelessness.
