Peter Holland

 Peter Holland
President, Chief Fire Officers’ Association.

He was elected to the CFOA Presidential Team in June 2008 and will serve as CFOA President for the term 2010-2011. As CFOA President Peter will Chair the CFOA Board and Practitioners' Forum and will sit on the Fire and Rescue Resilience Programme Board. Peter will lead for the Association on external stakeholder liaison, equality & diversity and will line manage the CFOA Business Director as well as leading on the work on Fire Futures and National Functions.

Peter has been the Chief Fire Officer of Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service since July 1999 and was previously Chief Fire Officer of Bedfordshire and Luton Fire & Rescue Service. Peter is a Past International President (1997/8) and is a current Director of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) with responsibility for finance and management. He is a founder member and former Chairman of the UK National Fire Sprinkler Network. The Network convinced the Government to change the Building Regulations to improve sprinkler protection in large single storey retail building and over the last 10 years Peter and the Network have successfully raised awareness of the benefits of sprinklers for life and property protection. Peter was awarded the Queen's Fire Service Medal for distinguished service in Her Majesty's Birthday Honours List in 1997 and received the honour of Officer of the Order of St John of Jerusalem in 1998. His most recent accolade was given in 2010, when he was awarded the CBE in the Queen's New Years Honours List for services to local government.
