Jane Thompson, Regional Children’s Service Co-ordinator, Shelter

Jane has spent most of her career in children’s charities, running services for children and young people in some of the most deprived areas of the North West. As a Programme Manager for The Children’s Society, she developed projects for young offenders and children with special educational needs, as well as running large-scale consultations to enable young people of all abilities to have a say in shaping services.

She joined Shelter in 2009 as part of the Children’s Service team, which aims to secure practice, policy and legal changes that will improve outcomes for homeless and badly housed children. Most recently, she was part of the working group that reviewed Shelter’s Safeguarding policy and took an active role in developing a Safeguarding Toolkit to assist workers at all levels.
