Paul Osborne
Paul is Director of Sustrans’ Schools and Children’s programme which supports schools, school champions and local authorities with information, training and events to help deliver school travel plans and safe routes to schools. Sustrans has been a key partner in the delivery of Cycling England activities and is well placed to support local authorities with their Local Sustainable Transport Fund proposals. Paul led the development of the Bike It project which now works in over 70 local authority areas and which has trebled levels of cycling to school; he is a member of the Government’s School Travel Expert Panel and has advised the US Government on its school travel strategy. He has qualifications in civil engineering, transport planning and theatre, which have held him in good stead in balancing the varying demands of the transport, education, health and environment sectors. He lives in York.
