Professor Mary Malcolm

Professor Mary Malcolm, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), University of Bedfordshire

During her early academic career she specialised in medieval Icelandic literature. After a decade working in Business and in Education in the Middle East, she returned to the UK and joined the University of Abertay Dundee, where, as Head of the Business School, she developed and managed overseas collaborations, before becoming Vice Principal (Academic Development) in 2008.

In that role, she re-defined the University’s teaching and learning strategy, to focus on a distinctive set of graduate attributes reflecting Abertay’s key strengths in enterprise and the creative industries, and directed a strand of the QAA Scotland’s Research-Informed Teaching and Learning enhancement project.

At the University of Bedfordshire, she continues to focus on the links between research-informed learning and employability, and on developing curricula and associated support to enhance the engagement of learners with their studies and their futures.
