Tim is Chief Executive of the Sport and Recreation Alliance (formerly known as the CCPR), the umbrella body and trade association for the national governing and representative bodies of sport and recreation in the UK.
Counting some 320 different and diverse organisations within its membership, the Sport and Recreation Alliance exists to promote, protect and provide for both sport and recreation by demonstrating the benefits that they can bring to society, working to reduce adverse impacts from legislation or other causes, and providing a range of high quality services to enable its member organisations to operate more effectively.
Prior to taking up his current role in August 2005, Tim was the Chief Executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for eight years between 1997 and 2004, during which time, under his leadership, the sport of cricket witnessed a period of unprecedented reform and modernisation.
Tim played professional first class cricket for Middlesex and Northamptonshire County Cricket Clubs between 1974 and 1983, before moving into sports administration. He was appointed General Manager of Middlesex CCC from 1984 to 1988 and subsequently Cricket Secretary, later Deputy Chief Executive, of the Test and County Cricket Board from 1988 to 1996.
