Denise Henry, Specialist FGM Midwifes, The Acton African Well Woman Centre
Denise qualified as a midwife at the end of 1991. She trained at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital which is now part of the Imperial amalgamation. She has worked in many areas of midwifery including time on the renowned and innovative "One-to-one" midwifery scheme from 1997-2004.
Denise feels that this experience is what has shaped her into a competent and confident practitioner. She has a particular interest in women who have been affected by female genital mutilation (FGM) and was in the first cohort to do the FGM module at Kings College, London.
Denise is also a qualified workplace mediator and has been a supervisor of midwives since 2005 and is about to start a secondment as an LSA support midwife.
