Joy Kemp MSc PGCLT(HE) RN RM CTCM&H is a senior midwifery lecturer & programme director at Canterbury Christ Church University. She has worked within the NHS in London, Nottingham, Reading and Kent and also as an aid-worker in Thailand, Iraq, Albania and Cambodia. Her research/academic interests include caseload midwifery, birth talks, the role of lecturers in clinical practice, and support for students and midwives with dyslexia. She also practices locally as a midwife. In her free time, she runs a peer support initiative for local midwives, and is chair of the Royal College of Midwives local branch. She sings in a gospel choir and is a foodie who grows her own veg, raising money for the RCM by selling home-made cakes and preserves.
