Zeni Koutsi
Zeni Koutsi, Maternal Medicine/Research Midwife, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust
Zeni started her midwifery education in 1997, in her hometown of Thessaloniki, Greece and subsequently she worked as a midwife and fertility specialist. Zeni was awarded with a full state scholarship for postgraduate studies and obtained an MSc in Midwifery Practice from University of Nottingham in 2005. She returned to Greece and applied the newly acquired knowledge to try and change the profile of Greek midwifery. She was involved in promoting evidence based and midwifery led care. Eventually in 2006, Zeni relocated to the UK and started her NHS journey. She is based in Surrey, with her initial post being at St Peter Hospital, Chertsey. Zeni gained significant experience and skills there and quickly progressed. At present, Zeni holds a challenging post as a maternal medicine midwife at Epsom and St Helier Hospitals, with a subspecialty in obesity and coordinates various research projects. She is interested in women’s health and rights issues, evidence based midwifery and public health.
