Amanda Stothers

Amanda Stothers, The Royal College of Midwives’ Student Midwives’ Working Group member (SMWG)

Amanda is 36 years old and a 3rd year Direct Entry Midwifery Student from Queens University Belfast. She previously worked for 13 years in the banking industry. She was inspired to midwifery through “passionate midwives” following her personal experiences of childbirth and also through supporting a sister as a “birthing partner” through her labour. She has worked with families of multiple births through the voluntary organisation “Tiny life”, offering support in their homes through the care of their infants and also as a friendly ear. The positive impacts these experiences brought empowered Amanda to pursue her passion to work with women during their reproductive years and become a midwife.
