Speaker Biography

Christina Yan Zhang

Christina is from China. She was Global Development Officer, Loughborough Students Union (LSU), from 2007-2009. Her case study 'Internationalise all students' experience in 18 months', was published by Higher Education Academy.

Christina met and successfully lobbied Prime Minister David Cameron in 2008 over continuing investment into PMI strategy to attract more overseas students to Britain.

She has sat on many initiatives on UK Education Internationalisation-related committees, including: UKCISA Board, British Council Erasmus Consultative Group, and Student Action for Refugees "Access to Higher Education Group".

In 2009, Christina was elected as the first international student to sit on NUS National Executive Council Block 15 position since its creation in 1976, and is now NUS International Students' Officer, representing all international students in the UK. Her aim is to globalise the experience of all seven million UK students to beat economic downturn.
