Dylan Roberts, Chief Information Officer, Leeds City Council
With more than 24 years' experience in the public sector under his belt, 12 as a CIO, Dylan Roberts currently holds the position of Chief Officer (ICT) at Leeds City Council.
Roberts, who leads a team of 286 business and ICT professionals, has driven down the cost of providing the council's ICT by 30% since 2005, while its complexity and overall usage has grown.
He's also involved in a range of transformational programmes at a national, regional and city level. These include radically changing the workplace and ways of working for employees, self service programmes automating business process around the web and voice channels, collaboration and integration with partners, significant social care change programmes as well as at regional level currently working up the business case for a Public Sector Network service for multiple agencies across Yorkshire and the Humber.
Dylan chairs the Socitm Futures group which leads on setting Socitm policy, contributing and influencing government policy and strategy and providing the conduit to local public services through the regions. Roberts is also a member of the Local CIO Council and leads streams, on behalf of Local Public Services, at a national level on the public sector network and the government cloud computing programme G Cloud.
MBA-qualified Roberts - who describes himself as "a passionate Welshman - fluent in the language of the heavens" - is also a keen football fan and is on the hunt for a football team to manage after looking after an adult squad in North Wales for 10 years. He is still waiting for the call from the Football Association of Wales.
