Vic Grimes

Vic was appointed to the National Apprenticeship Service – London Region in February 2009 having previously been the Area Director of London South Learning and Skills Council. In March 2007, Vic took overall responsibility for leading the performance recovery of Train to Gain and Apprenticeships in London. He also worked as Interim Executive Director for London East office, and prior to that was Director of Lifelong Learning and Skills with the Learning and Skills Council.

For the last 20 years Vic has worked in the public service sector and has held senior positions in the South London Training and Enterprise Council, the Training Agency London South East and the Employment Service. He has specialised in Post 16 learning, education and skills programmes for young people and adults. Vic is passionate about using the power of high quality education and learning to improve the life opportunities of people and communities.

Vic has had extensive experience of policy developments and partnership activities and has been actively involved in working with the YPLA, Skills Funding Agency, BIS, Local Authorities, Connexions Service, Jobcentre Plus and with other regeneration organisations. He was previously a Governor of Bexley College of Further Education and a Director of a Careers Service Company based in South London. Outside of the National Apprenticeship Service, Vic is the Chairman and Trustee of Trust Thamesmead, a large charity based in South East London.
