Sarah Allum

Sarah Allum is Children’s Services Manager for the NSPCC Devon & Cornwall Young Witness Service. The Project supports approximately 200 child victims of abuse each year.

Sarah’s professional career as a social worker in the field of child protection, spanning 26 years, has included work within the statutory and voluntary sector, both as a practitioner and as a manager. She also spent three years as a research manager at the University of Bath, developing a computer based information system for professionals dealing with child abuse.

Sarah is committed to ensuring the welfare of children remains a focus within the judicial system. In 2002, Sarah was instrumental in introducing the first remote video-link site for the NSPCC. This enables victims of child abuse to give evidence without attending court. This project received national recognition in 2004, as runner up in the British Criminal Justice awards for work with victims of crime.
