Sarah Tattoo, Children’s Centre Lead Officer, Suffolk County Council

Following an honours degree in Sociology and Psychology from Birmingham University, I gained my P.G.C.E. at Leeds qualifying as a teacher in 1976. In 1986 I completed an M.A. in Special Education at Cambridge.

For 25 years I taught in nursery and special schools in Leeds, York and Suffolk as class teacher, deputy and head teacher. In 2010 I left the classroom to become an Early Years Advisor. This role led to my involvement in Suffolk’s two rural mini-Sure Start Programmes both of which became Phase one children’s centres. In 2006 I was appointed as Children’s Centre Lead Officer for the Suffolk’s Sure Start Children’s Centre Programme; we have built 48 children’s centres having completed our building programme in August of this year.
