Dmitry Livanov graduated with honours from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys and Kutafin Moscow State Law University and holds a doctorate in physical and mathematical sciences. In 2007 he became Rector of the National Research Technological University MISiS. In 2000 he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Science for Young Scientists and in 2011 won the Government of the Russian Federation Award in the field of education. In 2012 he became Minister of Education and Science.
