A past President and present Honorary Secretary of CIPA, Chris is a Chartered and European Patent Attorney and a UK Patent Attorney Litigator. He is a past President of epi and is a member of CIPA’s Council, various CIPA committees, epi’s Council, epi’s EPPC and of SACEPO. Chris is also Chairman of the Supervisory Board for the EQE.

Until his retirement from the partnership at the end of June 2010, he was a partner in the firm of Carpmaels & Ransford. He now acts as a consultant.

His practice is mainly before the European Patent Office and he has been responsible for a large number of oppositions and appeals. He has argued orally before numerous Opposition Divisions and Boards of Appeal and has argued successfully before the Enlarged Board of Appeal.
