Dr. Stephen Hwang is a research scientist and the Chair in Homelessness, Housing, and Health at St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto, where he is Associate Professor and Director of the Division of General Internal Medicine. His research studies focus on access to health care and interventions to improve the health of people experiencing homelessness and on the connections between housing and health.

Dr. Hwang has worked as a physician for people who are homeless for more than 20 years. He received his MD from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and his MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health.
