Yvonne MacNamara

Yvonne joined ITMB as CEO in 2008 and has lead the organisation and its staff team towards becoming a leading national charity in the field of Traveller community’s equalities. Yvonne has worked within the voluntary and community sector on a wide range of issues concerning BAME communities and has over twenty year’s experience. Most of this time has been spent working within in the field of Race Equality, Criminal Justice, Health and Community Development. She is a well seasoned campaigner with numerous awarding winning projects under her belt.

Yvonne sets on a wide range of key stakeholder groups and advisory boards. Some of these include Departments of Health, Education, Work and Pensions, Department of Communities and Local Government, and Ministry of Justice.

She was one of the founding members of the ITMB and joined its staff team as Managing Director in 2008. Since joining the organisation much of her time has been spent building the operational and strategic strength and reach of the organisation. The organisation has quadrupled in size and reach and now has a second office in Birmingham. It has expanded its policy focuses and developed a research arm. Health promotion and inclusion is a key area of current development. She is currently leading on numerous new Health initiates and research proposal to ensure redress of the current health inequalities experienced by Irish Travellers.
